Improve your Music Studio by Art Scott

Improve your Music Studio by Art Scott

Welcome to the world of Music and being a Private Music Teacher.   Whether your new or an experienced professional, no matter where you live in the world, I can help you.

Art Scott, BS Music Education, MS Counseling

I have over 40 years’ experience not only as a private instructor of Piano, I also have equal experience being a church Musician, pianist, organist and choir / small ensemble director.

I also been a guest accompanist over the years features on the Hour of Power, a ministry of the Crystal Cathedral.  I have traveled with musical teams through the United States, participated in over 500 concerts in churches and schools, covering 35 states.   I have friends all over the world who are teachers, professors, church musicians.

I am a firm believer in the power of the Internet and Social Media.   If you wish to be successful in the Music business including teaching, you have to know how use the internet to your advantage.

I also realize some of the best referrals and long term clients come from our existing clients.   There are effective ways you can engage your clients to be your ‘sales force’, so your phone will ring off the hook with new students every month if not, every week.

I am a marketing expert and know how to reach the target audiences.  Finding students and retaining students is one of my strong points.   I currently have families that have been with my studio for over 12 years.   I have already experienced teaching my former students from 25 years ago, and know teach their children.

There are many reasons teachers fail to keep their rosters filled and even have waiting lists.  Here are a few.

A bad attitude...vs...How to develop a positive winning attitude.

They never advertise vs. How to advertise yourself spending pennies - not dollars.

Frightening recitals...vs. FUN initiving RECITALS which turn into great marketing events.

Boring lessons and assignments...vs...How to make learning fun and why students need to choose their pieces.

Dreading teaching students and family you don't enjoy...vs...When to terminate clients so your can focus on those that need and respect your time and expertise.

Never being able to afford music and teaching literature...vs...How and where to buy teaching Music so you get the biggest discount.,,40 to 50% off retail.

Here is a link of an up and coming Violinist, Mr. Sammuel Tan recorded April 2016 at the Mehuhin Competition in London.   He is playing

L. van Beethoven - Sonata No. 5 in F major Op. 24
P. de Sarasate - Zigeunerweisen Op. 20
A. Dvořák - Terzetto in C major Op. 74 Scherzo: Vivace and Thema con variazioni

ENJOY!

Here are a few more reasons most music studios never reach the success they deserve to have...

-Lack of enthusiasm as a teacher which affects your students.

-Lack of marketing skills and know how

-Lack of foundation skills required to be an intuitive, knowledgeable teacher

-Lack of knowing how to keep students motivated and thrilled to play and perform

-Lack of knowledge on how to have successful recitals and how to use them to get new students and retain the ones you have

-Lacking the wisdom to make lessons and learning fun for all ages

-How to embrace all forms of Social Media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.  I have it linked together so when I sent out a message, it 11,000 friends within 1 min; exponentially over 1 million potential students.

-Not knowing how to take deductions and business expenses on your taxes so you pay little or no taxes

-Not knowing how to work effectively with problematic parents or teaches

-Not realizing how important parent education is so they will help you and their children progress.

-Not knowing how to develop a script to use on the first phone call so you can determine who is a great supportive parent and who is a bad parent – so you don’t waste your time.

-How to charge monthly flat rate fees that are reasonable and help you have consistent cash flow 12 months of the year.

-How to determine if a piece is too hard or too easy.

-How to teach good practice habits so your students will be successful and finish pieces quicker.

-How to motivate different type of students based on their personality.

-How to let your students and families advertise your studio for you and create a win-win-situation

-The big must do in branding yourself and establishing yourself in your community as a Music Expert and Teacher

The list could for on forever.  If any of the above points is interesting or intriguing to you, I am offering a free 15-minute session via email, phone or Skype or Facetime (iPhone / Apple).

The information I share can help any Private Music Teacher including Piano, Organ, Voice, Strings, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion.
